safeguarding policy

Bridgepoint Learning CIC

Bridgepoint Learning CIC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people who attend our hub or participate in our activities. We believe every child has the right to feel safe, respected and supported.

Our community hub has been created to provide a safe, inclusive environment for children and young people, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those who may be home educated or currently out of education.

Our commitment

Bridgepoint Learning CIC is committed to:

• Creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for children and families

• Promoting the wellbeing and safety of every child who attends our activities

• Listening to children and taking their concerns seriously

• Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns

• Following safeguarding guidance and best practice within the UK

Designated Safeguarding Lead

Bridgepoint Learning CIC has a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) responsible for safeguarding and child protection.

Designated Safeguarding Lead:
Charlotte Ujvari
Director – Bridgepoint Learning CIC

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is responsible for responding to safeguarding concerns, maintaining safeguarding procedures within the organisation and ensuring appropriate action is taken where necessary.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead has completed recognised safeguarding training including:

• NCFE CACHE Level 2 Safeguarding and Prevent
• Safeguarding and child protection training through the NSPCC
• Additional safeguarding training relating to recognising and responding to abuse

Safeguarding knowledge and training will be kept up to date in line with current safeguarding guidance and best practice.

Safe working practices

To ensure the safety of children and young people:

• Staff and volunteers are expected to follow safe working practices

• Appropriate supervision is maintained during activities

• Safeguarding concerns are recorded and acted upon appropriately

• Individuals working with children are expected to behave in a safe, respectful and appropriate manner

Responding to safeguarding concerns

Any safeguarding concerns relating to a child’s welfare will be taken seriously and recorded appropriately.

Where necessary, concerns may be referred to relevant safeguarding authorities or services in line with safeguarding procedures and UK child protection guidance.

Whistleblowing

Bridgepoint Learning CIC encourages staff, volunteers and anyone connected with the organisation to raise concerns if they believe a child may be at risk, or if safeguarding practices are not being followed.

Concerns can be raised directly with the Designated Safeguarding Lead. All concerns will be taken seriously and handled appropriately.

No individual will be treated unfairly for raising a genuine safeguarding concern.

Our safeguarding culture

Bridgepoint Learning CIC aims to create a culture where safeguarding is always a priority and where children, families, staff and volunteers feel confident that concerns will be listened to and addressed appropriately.
